July 25 – UK listed online gambling giant, Party Gaming, announced on Thursday that it had acquired Cashcade Ltd. for GBP95.9 million.

This is Party Gaming’s first deal since their settlement with US authorities earlier this year.

Party Gaming, based in Gibraltar will make an up-front payment of GBP71.9 million for Cashcade, with another GBP24 million dependent on Cashcade’s financial performance in the future.

The deal is reported to be financed through cash reserves. Party’s share price was boosted by the news and increased by 5.8% to 248 p on Thursday. Overall their stock is up by 27% since January, and 18% over the past 12 months.

The World Series Of Backgammon (WSOB) will launch its new online platform at WorldSeriesOfBackgammon.com next Friday offering registered players heads-up cash action alongside qualifying tournaments for live tour events.
The WSOB will inaugurate its third season of events on Tuesday at the Palm Beach Casino in Cannes and is expecting competitors from around the world.

According to a report from the Associated Press news agency, anti-gambling Republican Senators from Arizona and Utah have involved themselves in the affairs of Delaware state, which recently passed legislation to permit sports betting.

Senators Jon Kyl and Orrin Hatch have apparently written to US Attorney General Eric Holder urging him to investigate the legality of the new Delaware law. Senator Kyl’s close questioning of Holder on his position on gambling was noted during the AG’s nomination hearings earlier this year.

The letter from the duo also asks the AG to defend a federal anti-sports betting law that New Jersey politicians are currently challenging in the courts.

Account Services Corporation, the US company that is contesting the seizure of poker player funds in its care by the New York US Attorney’s Office has a powerful ally in its litigation. This week the one million member Poker Players Alliance filed an amicus curiae motion in the court hearing the issue.

“As the voice of online poker players, PPA should be granted the opportunity to provide evidence and legal briefings on why online poker is a game of predominant skill and not considered illegal gambling under the law,” said John Pappas, executive director of the PPA.

“Recent rulings in Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Kentucky and Colorado all affirmed that poker is a game of skill.

Las Vegas Sands Casino operators were back checking their stocks on Monday morning after the Fourth of July holiday weekend, and what they found was that everything stayed pretty much the same. There was no major movement from US casino company stock.

Wynn Resorts had dropped 2.51% at mid-day, to $32.55. They began the day at $33.40, and opened on Monday at $32.68. Wynn has not seen much movement in the past several weeks and remains the most stable of all casino stocks.

Las Vegas Sands was having the worst day on Monday. The company’s stock had fallen by 5.71%, to $6.94 a share. Read the full post …
