Ladbrokes expands into mobile sportsbetting

The online division of the Ladbrokes betting group has expanded on earlier reports that it has taken on board the mobile Mfuse iPhone sportsbetting technology. A company spokesman said this week that the new application offers a ‘complete betting service’ featuring a ‘comprehensive range of betting markets’ including an ‘extensive range’ of in-play wagers.

Ladbrokes management is bullish on the prospects for mobile gambling. “Mobile betting and gaming will be a key driver of growth in the sector in the next few years,” says John O’Reilly, md for Ladbrokes’ remote gaming operations.

Las Vegas Can Advertise During Super Bowl

NEW YORK – (Associated Press) – The NFL will allow advertising for Las Vegas on game telecasts this postseason, including the Super Bowl.

Under the modified policy, tourist destinations that allow gambling, such as Las Vegas, Reno or Lake Tahoe in Nevada, will now be permitted to advertise during NFL games from Jan. 4, 2010, to Feb. 28, 2010. After that, the league will determine whether to extend the new rules into next season or go back to the old ones banning such ads.

The NFL regular season ends Jan. 3. The Super Bowl is scheduled for Feb. 7 in Miami.

The league will still prohibit ads for specific hotels, casinos and other institutions.

Next Big Sponsor to Drop Tiger Woods?

Irish bookmaker Paddy Power has posted odds on the next sponsor to drop Tiger Woods.  And the winner is:  AT&T, at least when it comes to favorites. 

With Accenture already leading the way and Chevy not far behind, Tiger’s backers are dropping out fast, the bookmaker suggests.

Paddy Power rates AT&T at 7/4 as the next big sponsor to cut Woods.   

Shoe giant Nike and golf ball manufacturer Titlelist were 33/1 or greater long shots to cancel Tiger Woods sponsorship deals.

Playtech to acquire skill games provider GTS

The Isle of Man-based online gambling software provider Playtech plc has acquired skill games provider Gaming Technology Solutions for an initial €10.8 million, with further amounts based on performance over the next two years capped at €21.6.

Observers have described the deal as a good buy based on GTS’ 12 months to June 2009, when it recorded revenues of €2.6 million and adjusted PBT of €300,000, before amortisation of intangibles of €1.8 million.

For Playtech, the acquisition brings a highly regarded open platform, a range of games which complement its own core in-house products, and an enhanced product pipeline.

PIC Club Poker Posts 9.1 Percent Dividend for Users

The online poker payment platform, PIC Club, has posted a 9.1 percent dividend for users, according to CEO Chuck Kidd.

PIC Club operates on a common shares account model whereby members earn money similar to that of shareholders in publicly traded companies.
