USA Loses To Ghana
It was supposed to be a joyous day for online sports gamblers who predicted the US would beat Ghana and move on to the quarter-finals of the 2010 World Cup. Instead, these bettors ended up disappointed.

When Asamoah Gyan scored the golden goal in the first overtime of the USA vs. Ghana match, millions of dollars went down the drain for those who bet on the US. The Americans were favored at sports books around the world, but they were unable to deliver a win.

The US, for the fourth straight World Cup match, fell behind in the early stages of the game. Their defense has been sloppy in the first fifteen minutes of every World Cup game they played.

Shortly after halftime, Landon Donovan brought the US even with a successful penalty kick. At that point, it appeared as though the US was going to seize control of the match and make US gamblers happy.

The teams went scoreless for the rest of regulation, and just a couple of minutes into the first fifteen minute overtime Gyan connected. From there, Ghana played a game of keep away with the US, and held on for the upset victory.

Although odds makers had the US as a slight favorite, many analysts believed that Ghana had more than enough talent to win the match. They proved the prognosticators right, even if it did take thirty extra minutes to get the job done.
