In Thomasville, North Carolina a man has been arrested during a raid against an illegal gambling operation.

Charged with possession of a slot machine and illegal gambling, Donald Coltrane will face his first court date on September 10th.

According to reports, police were contacted to over complaints about 220 Washboard Road. The home was raided, and Coltrane was apprehended. The raiding force had also seized slot machines, poker tables, playing cards, chips, and even surveillance equipment.

The complaints had apparently been filed over the enormity of the gambling games taking place in the house. Being that even social gambling is illegal in the state of North Carolina, police had responded quickly.

While many forms of gambling are illegal in the North Carolina, the dominant factor test for gambling is applied. Whether or not poker is considered a gamble in the state is something the courts have been discussing.

USA online gambling, while not explicitly listed in the state’s code of laws, is not considered illegal in the state.

North Carolina online gambling encompasses both the poker games that were being played in the illegal gambling industry, as well as the slots that were operating illegally out of Mr. Coltrane’s domicile.
