McDermott internet gambling taxation proposal to be heard May 19

The House Ways and Means Committee has confirmed earlier unofficial reports that it is to hold a hearing on May 19 to discuss the tax benefits of legalising and regulating online gambling in the United States.

Representative Jim McDermott’s HR 4976 internet gambling taxation proposal, a companion bill to Congressman Barney Frank’s HR 2267 bill to legalise online gambling, will be at the centre of the discussion and has attracted three co-sponsors.

The hearing will be chaired by Ways and Means Committee chairman Sander Levin, and interested parties have been invited to attend on submission of a written statement.

CCGC to launch live online casino from Sosua Bay in June

The Caribbean Casino and Gaming Corporation, which owns the Sosua Bay land casino in the Dominican Republic, has announced that it plans to launch real money, live dealer operations online next (June) month after extensive testing of its Kenilworth Systems Corporation technical elements.

The online gambling action will be streamed from the Sosua Bay Grand Casino using Kenilworth technical expertise, and the offering will include roulette and sports betting. CCGC expects to quickly generate revenues of $250,000 a month, a spokesman said this week.

The casino is now the centerpiece in the Sosua Bay Resort at Puerto Plata.

Feds Got Ken Weitzner’s Hard Drives: He Burned His Genitals

More is being learned about the alleged double suicide of online gambling portal website owner Kenneth Weitzner and his wife Jackie. 

Sources close to the investigation reveal to Gambling911.com that the deaths were a combination of overdosing with pills (believed to be Valium) and carbon monoxide.   All the windows and doors of an apartment above the couple’s garage where the bodies were found had been sealed off with tape.  A charcoal grill was used, resulting in the carbon monoxide poisoning.

"(Ken) was severely burned on the upper right thigh and genital area from where he re-lit the grill with lighter fluid," our source tells us.

World’s Largest Ship to Host Poker Cruise

Oasis of the Seas, billed as the world’s largest ship, is set to host an ocean-bound poker cruise.  Ladbrokes, the UK’s biggest bookmaker, will host the cruise.
