A small and poorly capitalized online sportsbook appears close to shutting down.  Bet911.com, which quite obviously attempted to capitalize on the Gambling911.com name but was never permitted to advertise on this website, now claims they have insufficient funds to pay players.

We already know the script.  It’s been written several times before by these underfunded fly by nights.

Some customers have had troubles withdrawing monies from the online payment transfer firm Moneybookers, popular among Web gamblers.

Moneybookers.com explained why payments were not forthcoming from the troubled betting shop:

More is being learned about the alleged double suicide of online gambling portal website owner Kenneth Weitzner and his wife Jackie. 

Sources close to the investigation reveal to Gambling911.com that the deaths were a combination of overdosing with pills (believed to be Valium) and carbon monoxide.   All the windows and doors of an apartment above the couple’s garage where the bodies were found had been sealed off with tape.  A charcoal grill was used, resulting in the carbon monoxide poisoning.

"(Ken) was severely burned on the upper right thigh and genital area from where he re-lit the grill with lighter fluid," our source tells us.

Oasis of the Seas, billed as the world’s largest ship, is set to host an ocean-bound poker cruise.  Ladbrokes, the UK’s biggest bookmaker, will host the cruise. 

The fourth annual poker fest at sea will kick off Jan. 22, 2011 upon the 5,400-passenger vessel.

The seven-night voyage to the Western Caribbean, out of Fort Lauderdale, will include stops in Falmouth, Jamaica; Cozumel, Mexico; and Labadee, Royal Caribbean’s private beach destination in Haiti.

Ocean of the Sea is part of the Royal Caribbean family.

Industry observers have for some time been predicting that major media companies will become a growing and influential force in the online gambling industry, and it certainly appears from recent deals between Internet betting firms and major newspapers and television stations that this coming about.

This week alone the attractions of a liberated French online gambling milieu have seen Ladbrokes team with Channel CANAL+ and Bwin revitalise its partnership with L’Equipe sports news publications, and in the latest development the French online gambling group Mangas Gaming has announced a collaborative deal with France’s second most popular television network through the Metropole 6 Group.

Mangas subsidiaries include Everest Poker, Expekt, Bet-at-home and Betclic, and the 4 year agreement calls for Everest and Betclic to present their betting services on M6′s network of websites, and sponsor poker and sports content across M6′s nine digital channels.

Of course, all of this activity is subject to the betting companies achieving licensing status with French regulator ARJEL once it starts the licensing process.
