Close but no cigar for poker pro Daniel Negreanu, who is fast becoming the Dan Marino of the World Series of Poker Europe.  He and Card Player Magazine owner Barry Shulman went at it for hours before Negreanu finally lost out.  Negreanu had made the final table of last year’s WSOPE, placing 5th.

But his second place finish means that Negreanu now tops the All-Time Money List.   He takes home 495,589 pounds while Shulman walks away with 801,603 pounds.  The total prize pool was 3,340,000 pounds.

Shulman’s son, Jeff, will be competing at the 2009 World Series of Poker final table next month.

"It’s a lot of fun for me to be here right now," Barry Shulman said. "

I don’t know what I expected Budapest to be, but it was entirely different.  The city is absolutely gorgeous with the Danube River flowing right through the center.  Budapest is two cities – Buda and Pest, the oldest being Pest.  There are ten or more beautiful bridges across the Danube and most of them are breathtaking.  During World War II the Germans bombed all the bridges but they have been restored.  The people were nice and seemed to be genuinely very friendly.
